Main content start
The Earth Materials Lab is a shared laboratory in Stanford's School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Sciences that provides guidance, access, and hands on training for rock preparation equipment and mineral separation techniques. Common usages include zircon, quartz, and feldspar separation; powdering samples for geochemical or isotopic analysis; and cutting rocks for thin sections or further analysis.
Facilities are open to all Stanford affiliates. Main concerns are safety using machinery and chemicals and avoiding sample cross contamination.
